B-Main Finishes For Larson In Manzy and Perris World of Outlaws

Phoenix, Arizona and Perris, California – October 19 & 20, 2007. Kyle Larson and the Dave and Debbie Vertullo racing team headed out on the road for the first time and found the stiffest competition available, showing up to race with the World of Outlaws at two of the highest profile tracks in America, Manzanita Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway. Even though the 15 year old from Elk Grove, California was unable to make it into either feature race, the learning experience was invaluable10-29-07Manzy-woo_8082.jpg (103227 bytes), while showing to all that he could compete on this level with respectability.

Each night Larson started out with promise during hot laps, as he ended the session at Manzy 23rd of the 33 cars and at Perris he placed 13th of the 32 cars pitted. Without the rabbits ahead of him in qualifying Larson posted 31st fast time at Manzanita and at Perris he ended 26th quick.

Heat race action at Manzy saw Larson start eight and finish sixth, turning the fifth fastest lap of the race, while at Perris he started seventh and finished there. Larson finished 10th of the 13 cars  in Manzy’s B-main, joining Chad Hillier, Dion Hindi, Jonathan Allard, Greg DeCaires and Brooke Tatnell as non-transfers. At Perris Larson’s ParkerStore/CRV Racing Products/Eagle Kistler mount finished eight of the 12 drivers starting, while DeCaires, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Tony Bruce, Jr., and Tatnell missed out on the needed top four.

One highlight of the weekend was a front straightaway interview in front of the large crowd on hand at Perris. The amazement of the crowd was evident as the sight of the 90 pound high school sophomore grabbed their attention. When the interview was completed it was apparent his fan base had grown considerably.

At the end of the night Larson commented on the weekend events, “I wish I could have made the mains each night, but I’m not disappointed. With as little experience that I have on the big tracks, and my first year in a sprint car, I was realistic of my chances. 10-20-07Perris-woo-pits_829.jpg (67271 bytes)What I learned running with them is that you have to drive harder to compete with them and they don’t make mistakes very often. I’m just glad to get this kind of experience with the best sprint car drivers there are, keep up with them, and not do something to mess anybody else up or make myself look bad. I was able to accomplish all of that and I hope I was able to show everybody associated with the Outlaws that I will belong here in a matter of time.”
