Race: February 18, 2006LARSON ENDS RED BLUFF POINTS IN THIRD
Red Bluff, CA ParkerStore Outlaw Sprint Kart driver Kyle Larson capped the Red
Bluff Winter Indoor point series with a third place finish in the final tally as season
long point leader Mason Moore capture the title in the 500cc Open Intermediate Division.
Going into the main event Garrett Mills trailed Larson, who was in second, by four points.
Mills was able to turn a front row starting spot into the feature win and move past
Larson, who could only manage a seventh place finish.
Larson qualified sixth fast of the 23 karts on hand and started third in the third heat.
He found the going difficult as a miscue late in the race took him out of contention for a
transfer into the A-main, resulting in a fifth place finish and a trip to the B-main.
Larson started outside the front row of the B-main and led every lap to earn his way into
the feature event.
In the trophy dash Larson started his ParkerStore/Grandpa George Mo tors/QRC Factory Kart
on the pole with fifth fast Jake Park outside. Park powered into the lead as Larson fell into second. The pair maintained their
positions as the race wore on and it appeared Park would race to the win. However, in turn
four of the final lap, Parks left rear wheel came off. As Park spun wildly Larson
was able to maneuver by the disabled kart and win the dash in exciting fashion before the
stunned crowd.

Larson started the A-main in tenth place and
could only watch as Mills grabbed the lead. As Mills opened a healthy lead Larson fought
to move forward but deteriorating track conditions made passing difficult. Larson could
only advance to seventh at the lap 25 checkered flag, dropping the Elk Grove, California
driver to third in the final 500cc Open Intermediate points.
After the races Larson said, First, I want to congratulate my best friend, Mason
Moore, on winning the championship. He was fast every race and made it tough for the rest
of us right from the start of the season. For me, Im looking forward to the outdoor
season to begin. The bigger tracks suit my style better and crashing and luck isnt
such a big factor. We still have the West Coast Nationals to run here over three days in
March but Ill be up for that as that race is the biggest one we run out here each
year. Ill try to defend my 250 championship and take home the Open division trophy
also.
