LARSON RACES TO EIGHT PLACE FINISH AT RED BLUFF
Red Bluff, CA ParkerStore Outlaw Sprint Kart driver Kyle Larson finished eighth in
the 500cc Open Intermediate Division Saturday October 29th, inside the Pauline Davis
Pavilion at the Tehama County Fairgrounds. Round three of the Winter Indoor Series saw
Larson, the Knoxville Outlaw Kart Nationals Champion, experience
a rare miscue while leading the main event as he spun out with a straightaway advantage
over the field.
Larson qualified his ParkerStore/Grandpa George Motors/QRC Factory Kart third in the 26
kart field. Larson finished second to Jake Park in the third heat to transfer to the
feature race. He started fourth in the trophy dash and finished there as Dillon Silverman
got the win.
Larson lined up outside Garrett Mills on the front row and took the lead at the start but
Mills assumed the advantage in turn four to lead the first lap. Mills continued to lead
until he bobbled in turn two of lap nine, opening the door for the closely pursuing Larson
to take over the lead. Larson steadily increased his advantage over the pack until, in
turn one of lap 16, he allowed his kart to spin to bring out a yellow flag. Larson
restarted 13th and fought his way back to an eighth place finish at the lap 25 checkered
flag. Mills went on to get his second win of the season as Keith Bloom finished second
over Justin Grant, sub driving for an absent Alissa Geving.
After the races Larson commented, To give away a win like that really hurts. A win
would have probably moved me into second in the points. The car was really fast and
handling the best it has in the three races here. Weve been trying a new brake
system since the season started here and it hasnt been easy adjusting to them. I
think were just going to go back to the old brakes and at least I wont have to
think about them every time I touch the pedal. We still have ten point races left to go
here and hopefully we can get on a roll, win some races, and get back in the point
battle.
