LARSON FINISHES SECOND IN RED BLUFF ROUND TWO

Also Sub Drives to Win in 125/250 Division

Red Bluff, CA – Outlaw Sprint Kart racing action returned to the Pauline Davis Pavilion at the Tehama County Fairgrounds in Red Bluff Saturday October 22nd and ParkerStore driver Kyle Larson finished second to point leader Mason Moore in the 500cc Open Intermediate division. Larson also drove an absent Justyn Cox’s 250cc kart to the feature win over point leader Brian Southers in the 125/250 division.

Larson qualified third quick behind Moore and Dillon Silverman in the 24 kart 500cc Open Intermediate division. He started fourth in the third heat but spun in turn one to bring out a yellow flag. After restarting at the tail Brad Patchen looped his kart in turn four, collecting Larson. Once again restarting at the back Larson finally got untracked and drove to a third place finish, garnering the last transfer position into the A-Main. In the six lap trophy dash Larson started fourth but got shuffled to the back coming to the green flag out of turn four. He continued on and placed fifth in the six kart race.

Larson’s ParkerStore/Grandpa George Motors/QRC Factory Kart started the feature race third. In turn two of the opening lap Larson clipped the inside barrier, knocwpe49.jpg (44375 bytes)king him back to seventh. On lap two leader Keith Bloom and second running Matthew Davis got together to bring out the yellow lag and hand the lead to third place Moore. Larson restarted fifth and got by Amanda Reinolds on lap three to move into fourth behind Moore, Garrett Mills and Alissa Geving. Mills dropped from the race on lap seven and Larson found himself third. On the ninth lap Larson passed Geving to take over second. Moore maintained his lead over Larson to the finish, winning by 1.675 seconds.

Larson qualified fourth quick of the 21 karts on hand. He won the first heat from third starting and finished fifth in the trophy dash. Larson started from the pole in the A-Main and led every lap as he fended off Brian Southers over the last ten laps.

After the races Larson said, “My dad and Sean Sheppard had the kart setup much better this week. Even though the track was dry slick again this week the kart was a lot more comfortable. I had one moment in the A-Main there where it got a little sideways, but luckily Alissa Geving knocked me straight and we both continued on. Mason Moore is really fast right now and they are hooking up to the racetrack better than anybody. We’re getting better every week and if we can just get some rain or cool weather then we’ll have a real racetrack to fight it out on.”
