PARKERSTORE DRIVER KYLE LARSON SCORES AGAIN AT CYCLELAND
Chico, CA ParkerStore Outlaw Sprint Kart driver Kyle Larson sped to his seventh win
this season in the Intermediate 125/250cc division at Cycleland Speedway July 30th. The
500cc Open Intermediate division saw Larson recover from an early spin and race back to a
hard earned fifth place finish.
Larson only qualified ninth quick in the 32 kart 125/250 division and missed the trophy
dash. He started on the pole of the third heat and won the race by a wide margin. The
finish placed the ParkerStore/Predator Motors/QRC Factory Kart third on the A-Main grid.
As the green flag flew Larson got a quick start on the bottom of turn four and raced three
wide into turn one with front row starters Jake Cartwright and Colby Copeland. Larson
squirted out of turn two and had a lead he would never surrender to the lap twenty
checkered flag. Point runner-up Mason Moore worked his way to a second place finish, while
Copeland held on for third.
Larson just made the 500cc Open Intermediate dash as he qualified sixth of the 25 karts
appearing. Larson started on the pole of the dash and won the eight lapper over Brian
Southers. Larson lined up fifth in the feature and once again got a great start off the
bottom of turn four as he exited turn two in second behind Brett Miller, who was
substitute driving for absent James Sweeney. Larson trailed Miller until lap four, when he
half spun into the infield in turn two, where the kart stalled to bring out a yellow.
Larson restarted 16th and was up to tenth a lap later. The Grandpa George powered
ParkerStore kart was up to eight on lap 12 and seventh by lap 15. During the final two
laps of the twenty lapper Larson successfully completed a major slide job on Chad Pace and
then drag raced Copeland to the checkered flag to end the race a very satisfying fifth,
maintaining his point lead over third place finisher Keith Bloom. Moore got by Miller on
lap six to capture his second win in a row.
After the races Larson said, In the 500 kart that was the most satisfying fifth
place finish Ive ever gotten. After I went to the back most of the others ahead of
me were running the bottom because there really wasnt a cushion on top. So I figured
I had to try to make the top work for me and it was right at the fence. I must have
slapped the wall six or seven times and I almost turned it over once in turn three. It was
really fun because I had to work so hard to make each pass and it seemed that I had to
work harder for each pass I made. Its good to get the 125/250 win tonight but the
biggest thing I accomplished was getting both karts back in the trailer undamaged. We are
heading to Knoxville on Thursday and were on a really tight schedule just to get the
normal stuff done by Wednesday. Im really looking forward to the next couple of
weeks and I know it is going to be a lot of fun
