Tulare, CA. April 10, 2010. Although Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway is Kyle Larson’s favorite racetrack, it hasn’t always been kind to the 17 year old from Elk Grove, California. As a testament to that fact 2009 saw two bone jarring crashes there, both of which were the result of others changing their line suddenly as Larson entered turn one. However, fortunes turned around greatly Saturday night as Larson got his first win at the Central Valley track and his second in Golden State Challenge 410 competition as the series held round number three in the season long title chase... With a result that mirrored the previous week’s Golden State Challenge race at Petaluma Speedway, Kyle Larson tallied his second fourth place finish in a row as the touring series competed at Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway for the first time in 2009. Point leader Tyler Walker won for the second week in a row, albeit in much more spectacular fashion this time, with a last lap pass of race long leader Jonathan Allard, and Brent Kaeding completed the quadruple double by taking third again. Unfortunately for Larson, who advanced to fourth in the season long point standings with his third top four finish in a row, the same three driver’s who crossed the line ahead of him are the same three ahead of him in the point race.... While Calistoga ended on a downer as the 16 year old driver could not compete on the second night due to a stubborn car that would not fire, making the B-Main event at the Gold Cup had to be considered as another rung up the ladder in the development of the youthful driver. Third At Placerville Civil War Keeps Larson In Title Chase
Another run from deep in the pack for birthday boy
wpe1D.jpg (29520 bytes)
Placerville, CA. August 2, 2008. If passing points were a component of the Hoosier Tire California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series Kyle Larson might have a pretty comfortable point lead at this point. With previous Civil War runs at Placerville (C-main to A-main), Calistoga (19th to sixth), and Petaluma (17th to fifth), added to last Saturday’s charge from 15th to third at Placerville, Larson is quickly earning a reputation as a driver who will find a way to the front. And despite point leader Sean Becker taking the win from third starting, Larson, who celebrated his 16th birthday two days prior, was able to stay solidly in second place in points after round 10 of the season long 15 race series. The soon to be high school junior is now trailing by eight points.

A 2008-07-26PetalumaCW1_1812.jpg (165323 bytes)sub-par qualifying effort that placed him near the rear of the feature race lineup did not deter Kyle Larson from recording another top five finish, this time at the Petaluma Fairgrounds Speedway, as the California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series held round number nine at the coastal facility last Saturday. The fifth place finish, combined with late race misfortune for series point leader Sean Becker, allowed the soon to be sixteen year old to close within four points in the 15 race championship showdown.

Larson First To Repeat In  Civil War With Another Win At Chico

wpe1B.jpg (39033 bytes)Chico, California. July 18, 2008. 15 year old Kyle Larson became the first driver to score a second win in the 15 race Hoosier Tires California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series during round number eight at Silver Dollar Speedway last Friday night. Both wins in the series for the youngster have come at the Chico speed plant. Although Larson comfortably led most of the race, an excursion through a treacherous rut in turn one while attempting to pass lapped traffic allowed defending Civil War champion Andy Forsberg to take over the lead until a blown head gasket ended his race six laps short of the finish... Run From Tail Of B Misses By One For Larson At Mark Forni Classic
2008-07-12pville1_1611.jpg (96019 bytes)Placerville, CA, July 12, 2008. Unless a driver is coming out of the C-main, the prospect of running a B-main event is never the desired way into a night’s feature race. Too many unknowns can derail even the best drivers on their way to a transfer in the final race. At Saturday’s third annual $5,000 to win Mark Forni Classic race at Placerville Speedway Kyle Larson found that out first hand as a rare miscue on lap two of the B-main event led to the young driver missing his first main event of the season.  ParkerStore article

Larson third in Petaluma Civil War
Petaluma, CA. July 5, 2008. In wpe16.jpg (33033 bytes)a return visit of the Hoosier Tire California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series to Petaluma Speedway, things proceeded in much the same manner for Kyle Larson as they did in round number two for the traveling series last April. Then, as well as Saturday night, Larson held third place in the main event only to lose the spot at the midpoint, but just like the previous Petaluma event, fought back to make a late race pass to take a podium finish. Passing Aplenty For Larson Until Quincy Civil War Ends With 16th Place Finish
Larson dejected after uphill battlewpe17.jpg (35054 bytes)
Quincy, CA  June 21, 2008. Although he would not have won the hard charger award as he did in the previous Hoosier Tires California 360 Civil War Series event at Calistoga Speedway, Kyle Larson put on another impressive passing exhibition as the touring group made their first ever visit to Quincy’s American Valley Speedway. After losing his original fifth starting spot in the main event due to being involved in a lap one skirmish, 15 year old Larson twice came from the back on the pack, making 18 green flag passes on a very narrow, mostly single file race track, in the span of the first 23 laps. Unfortunately, while challenging for sixth with six laps remaining, the Dave and Debbie Vertullo CRV Racing Products/Eagle/Kistler mount was trailered early after contact with another driver, placing Larson 16th in the final rundown... Larson 19th to Sixth At Calistoga
Moves into third in Civil War Points
Calistoga CA, June 14, 2008. Kyle Larson shook off the effects of a 2008-06-14stoga-kyle_1273.jpg (294909 bytes)dismal qualifying effort by rebounding to take a very satisfying sixth place finish at one of his favorite tracks, the picturesque Calistoga Speedway, as the Hoosier Tire California 360 Sprint Car Civil War series held round number five of their 15 race schedule this past Saturday night. Larson, the winner of the previous Civil War race at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway on May 25, was able to stay in contention for the Civil War title by earning his fourth top six finish in five events of the highly competitive Civil War Series... Chance At Win Deflates In Opener

Chico, CA. May 24 & 25, 2008.  Losing a chance at a win due to an unusual cause of a flat tire late in the race on Saturday night only made Kyle Larson more determined in the next nights Hoosier Tires California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series event as the 15 year old took another step up racing’s ladder by holding at bay the west coast’s top driver, Tim Kaeding, and emerged with a very popular win in front of a raucous capacity crowd on hand during the annual Chico Silver Dollar Fair.  ParkerStore Article

Larson Scores 4th And DNF In Chico Pair
wpeB.jpg (44284 bytes)
Chico, CA. May 16 & 17, 2008. Despite record breaking heat in Northern California, Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway attracted large car counts for two nights of 410 sprint car racing highlighted by the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race on Saturday. Kyle Larson and the Dave and Debbie Vertullo Racing Team made their second appearance of the season during the opener Friday night at the weekly point series on the quarter mile oval and the 15 year old charger found the track to his liking as he nabbed fourth in the feature event, while the next night saw the first DNF of the season due to throttle linkage problems.... Chico and Placerville, CA. May 2 and 3, 2008. After a three week hiatus from participating on the dirt tracks of Northern California, Kyle Larson and the Vertullo Racing team returned to action with a weekend doubleheader of racing. Larson ventured Friday to Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway to make his first run of the season in the 410 sprint ranks, where he posted an eight place finish. After making a quick turnaround to be able to participate at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Family Chevrolet “Tribute to Al Hinds Sprint Car Show and Shine” barbecue and get together promoting the night’s memorial race at Placerville Speedway, Larson turned a C-main start into a rare transfer to the A-main during round three of the California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series... Tulsa, Oklahoma, January 11 & 12, 2008. Although Kyle Larson’s first attempt at the Chili Bowl ended with a spectacular finish, it wasn’t really the kind of conclusion the 15 year old from Elk Grove, California wanted. After earning a spot in one of Saturday’s pair of F Main events, misfortune struck for Larson as he could not avoid a slowing car just ahead of the checkered flag. As the flag waved Larson climbed the right rear tire of Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Missouri, and launched into a wild flip across the finish line... ParkerStore Article
