UPDATE ON BILLY
4-12-07 Update on Billy Sellers, yesterday he was released
from the hospital. According to his mom he is home, resting well. Still in a great deal of
pain and on medication to assist with that.
4-3-07 - Billy Sellers surgery is complete. The
doctors walked out of the operating room "smiling" as things went well. The
prior hardware in his back was rem0ved and replaced with new components that are more
protected for the future.
The new injury involved fusing the L2 lumbar down to L6. The shattered bone fragment that
is lodged into his spinal canal was attached to a ligament to prevent any further movement
and possible injury.
Surgery started at 7:30, he was out around 12:15 and at this time is doing well and is
expected to fully recover.
The family wished to extend their thanks for all of the concerns, thoughts and prayers at
this time. He is expected to be out of bed at some point tomorrow and depending on
recovery could be discharged as early at Sunday. He will need to wear a brace for a
minimum of three months.
Good news !
If all goes well, we will attempt to do a phone call to him over the air on Saturday night
from Placerville so he can personally thank all the great fans and drivers that have shown
their concern.

BENEVOLENT FUND RELATED FOR SELLERS !!!
Following a meeting late yesterday with John Padjen, Morrie
Williams, Don Sharp and Brent Kaeding we are honored to announce that Billy Sellers will
be assisted by the current GSC Benevolent Fund. This fund is designed to assist drivers
who are seriously injured in a racing accident and unable to perform their regular daily
activities such as employment, etc.
Sellers will be financed by the fund for the next three months in an effort to assist with
his living and medical expenses during his recovery. At the eonclusion of the three month
period the situation will be evaluated and possibly extended if needed.
Additionally, we are assembling an event this Saturday night at Placerville Speedway that
will raise money for Sellers as well. The event will include a helmet pass that will
immediately following qualifying. Rich Rosser, the owner of the #23 Sprint car in which
Sellers was scheduled to drive for the 2007 season. Rosser will lead ALL of the sprint car
drivers into the grandstands following the national anthem and special invocation by
Placerville Speedway chaplain Don Wilson.
Additionally, a raffle is being assembled for the evening as well and many area businesses
and race teams are donating a good deal of high dollar items. At this time I don't have
the complete list as the calls are still coming in but a few items include a pair of
Giants Tickets, a number of brand new power tools and much more two full season passes,
good for two people at Placerville and more. !
This is a great example of community support people...for decades the name
"Sellers" has pulled so many people into the grandstands at the Eldorado County
Fairgrounds and its with due respect we contribute our efforts to help out. I hope to see
other announcements and ideas come across my screen by tonight.
By tonight I hope to have a detailed press release out on this and
am working on getting some tv news coverage for it as wel. If anyone would like to
contribute something to the raffle, please email me direct at sullivanimages@sbcglobal.net

HELPING BILLY SELLERS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT!
Everyone here knows by now about Billy Sellers and
what lies ahead for his recovery. In the sport of auto racing the high tech safety
equipment these days prevents such injuries from taking place in large quantities but once
in awhile something like this happens and someone gets hurt pretty bad.
This Saturday night we all need to come together as a "community" when we all
return to Placerville and there is one driver that will not be there, but will be
recovering in a hospital. I have gotten many emails from people want to show their support
and I have also gotten a share of emails that have pointed blame for the incident. There
is no reason to be pointing blame at a time like this because the situation is hard enough
already for those that are directly involved such as Billy, his family and Rich Rosser who
it taking this really hard as well. I've known Billy since he stepped in a sprint car and
I met Rich a couple years ago and both of these families are by far a true example of what
this sport is all about and we all need to use our energy to show them support, rather
then trying fault anyone or anything for what happened.
This Saturday night we will being having the drivers at Placerville come into the
grandstands to collect donations for Billy Sellers. I spoke on the phone with John Taylor
today, the owner of the 35 car and he felt we should do some type of collection through
the pit area as well which we will put together and all of the donations will be presented
either to a family member that night or will be deposited into the trust fund that should
be set up later today.
Additionally some members of the fairboard are putting together some things togerther as
well and those of us that represent the track will continue to plan his event. I expect we
will even see some drivers announce they will contribute their winnings for the night or a
portion of them which would truly be a grateful effort !
So at this time I'd like to ask for those who are continuing to point fault in emails,
calls etc to re-direct your energy to the positive and lets all work together to make a
difference the Saturday night and show someone and the community the great fans and
drivers that you all are. After reading a comment in Bobby Gerould's column last week I
think its time we show our true colors and get back to being the true, respectful fans and
"family" we have always been known as at Placerville.
By later today I hope to have the trust fund information to you but at this point..plan on
bringing that extra change Saturday night or maybe buy one less beer for the night and
donate the $$ to a person in need. I am certain we will have a large card on hand for
everyone to sign as well.

I just met Billy for the first time at Kyles first
sprint car race. He came into the trailer after the races and gave Kyle some positive
feeling regarding the night. I asked Kyle who was that and Kyle said Billy Sellers. Just
knowing how Kyle felt after his first night of racing and having Billy come over to talk
to Kyle gave me a good feeling on Billy. He didnt have to come over but he took the
time to stop by and probably knew how Kyle felt and wanted him to feel better. Thanks
Billy for comforting Kyle.
Please let Billy know he is in our thoughts and prayers and wish for a speedy recovery.
Kyles mom
