Momentum Builds with 2nd Place Run at Richmond for Larson.

Kyle Larson, No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS – “It was a long road to get to where we’re at right now and to be sitting in position to contend for the championship. Everyone on the team and in the shop have worked so hard to get us here, and it’s great to see the work pay off. Having Jamie and I in the Chase is so big for our organization. I haven’t run that well at Richmond in the past, and I thought we had about an eighth place car tonight, but things worked out for us tonight. Our Target Chevy was really good on short runs, so all those cautions really helped me keep pace towards the end of the race. That last restart was pretty crazy. The car was so good and I was able to roll the top and pass a lot of people in two laps to get the runner-up. The way we’ve finished the regular season has been really good, so I’m really excited to carry this momentum into Chicago and the start of the Chase.”

  • Larson’s last three races have resulted in a first, third, and second place finish respectively

  • For the first time in the history of the organization, CGR has both cars in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup
  • Larson led 15 laps tonight
  • The lead changed 21 times among seven drivers
  • The caution was shown 16 times for a total of 89 laps
