Rough Night For ParkerStore Team At Red Bluff
December 2, 2006 - Red Bluff, CA – There’s an old wpeD.jpg (36250 bytes)sports adage that says, “You can’t win for losing.” Well, at the Les Schwab Tires Red Bluff Winter Indoor Series inside the Pauline Davis Pavilion last Saturday, ParkerStore Sprint Kart driver Kyle Larson experienced the feeling first hand as he missed the A-main event for only the sixth time in his career, which includes over 500 races. Racing in the 500cc Open Intermediate Division, Larson put himself in position several times during the evening’s activities to be in the feature race only to have circumstances thwart the attempts.   ParkerStore Article

November 18, 2006 ~Red Bluff, CA ~ Returning to racing competition after a hiatus to attend the World of Outlaws banquet in Las Vegas to honor fellow ParkerStore driver Donny Schatz on his first championship, and to attend the Trophy Cup sprint car race a week later, Kyle Larson showed up at Red Bluff’s Pauline Davis Pavilion bull ring race track to race in round four of the Winter Indoor Series. The reigning 500cc Open Division champion from Cycleland Speedway was competing in the 500cc Open Intermediate division as new age restrictions at Red Bluff now prevent his ability to race in the top division.   ParkerStore Article

Kyle's Championship Speech ~ Cycleland Speedway
October 7, 2006    Video of speech
First I would like to thank my sponsors:
ParkerStore, QRC, Inc., RPM –Indoor Kart Racing, JW Web Design, MotoWear, Corning Ford Mercury –KIA, Broken Bow Records, Hampton Inn & Suites, Del’s Machine Shop, WYNN’s, Earl’s Indy, Care-Free Pools, BTS Brakes, HOD-Heaven on Dirt, LFT Technologies Inc. – Safety Solutions, Rossi Auto Body, Platinum Powdercoating, and Grandpa George Motors, for their support and I couldn’t do this without them.

Congratulations the other champions, Tyler Seavey, James Eden, Keith Bloom, Mason Moore, and Scott Burgess.

Robert Carrel from QRC, thank you for providing me with equipment that is capable of winning championships.

Thank you, Lowell, for preparing an awesome track each week for us to race on. The officials, thank you for keeping the show moving along. The scorers up in the booth, thank you also. And Sally, you are my favorite announcer because I always feel luckier when you are at the races. You guys put on an awesome show every week.

A special thanks to Sean Sheppard, my crew chief. Thank you for believing in me and for being my friend. I’m glad you are part of our team.

My dad, mom and sister, thank you for being there and helping me pursue my dreams. Now let’s get me to Indiana!

And I just have to say this, at the beginning of the season my dad wasn’t real sure about me running the Open division, but I wanted to. He said the competition was going to be tough and I would struggle at times and I would probably average $10 a night in winnings. So what I have decided to do is, after I get my envelope, I'm going to pull out $10 and give it to my dad and keep the rest for myself.

Thank you.

CONGRATULATIONS ParkerStore/QRC Outlaw Sprint Kart Driver Kyle Larson

ParkerStore Driver Claims Tenth Championship
Larson also sets all time track qualifying record
September 30, 2006 - Chico, CA – Holding a slim point lead with the 500cc Open Division championship on the line, playing it conservative would have been the logical strategy for ParkerStore Outlaw Sprint Kart driver Kyle Larson to take in the final feature event of the Cycleland Speedway point season. But not playing it safe only added to the amazing finish to the QRC Cup Perpetual Trophy race and championship point season, both taken with a flourish at the end. To add to his tenth sprint kart championship in a seven year career, which should also include the Rookie of the Year award at next weeks banquet, Larson also set the all time Cycleland Speedway track record, with a new qualifying standard of 10.156 on the lightning fast track. The championship is Larson’s fifth in his two year association with ParkerStore.

Gold Cup Race of Champions
Silver Dollar Speedway - Sept. 7, 8, 9, 2006

Donny Schatz -Thurday night Preliminary Heat race
September 9th - Hats off to ParkerStore World of Outlaw driver Donny Schatz, who came back Saturday night to compete in the 53rd Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions. Schatz, with first degree burns on his cheeks and neck area that resulted from a flip and fire during Thursday’s preliminary heat race, started in the D Main. He transferred to the C-Main, then just missed the transfer spot to the B-main. Schatz decided to take a provisional, started 25th in the A-Main event, and finished a very respectable 8th. Schatz had the crowd behind him cheering his every move throughout the night.

After the races we went to visit ParkerStore teammate Schatz. The first degree burns on his cheeks and neck showed his amazing ability to withstand the pain he must have endured to put his helmet on and race all night long. We, and all fans in attendance, appreciate his dedication to the sport of sprint car racing. Donny is a true racer. Good luck Donny and we wish for a speedy burn recovery.

Gold Cup-September 7, 2006 - ParkerStore Driver Donny Schatz and Andy Forsburg were racing for the final transfer spot, into the feature event, off of turn two, when their cars touched and Schatz's #15 smacked the concrete wall. The contact compressed the fuel cell (tail tank) and it immediately ignited as Schatz was flipping. The car landed upright in a huge ball of flame with the ParkerStore Knoxville Nationals winner scrambling out of the car and into a pool of blazing methanol. Fire crews and other drivers watching from the pits came to Schatz's rescue - dousing the flames with fire extinguishers. The frightening event earned Schatz a trip to a local Chico hospital. It was announced at the track that Schatz was treated for minor burns and released.  More info www.donnyschatz.com

Yes, that is what I said, masking tape.  When Kyle's dad was young he raced his model cars on the floor  and would repair them with masking tape.   After a while, he decided to make super modifieds with the masking tape by rolling, cutting, taping and painting them.  They are all masking tape with balsa wood for the tires and wire for the bumpers, nerf bars, etc.  He sold a few to several drivers and car owners, and wonder if they are still around.

LARSON COMPETES IN THE WEST COAST NATIONALS
March 17-19, 2006 - Red Bluff, CA – ParkerStore Outlaw Sprint Kart Driver Kyle Larson appeared headed to a dominating win in the 250cc division at the second annual Red Bluff Indoor West Coast Nationals on Sunday March 19th, but with two lwpe7.jpg (47292 bytes)aps to go, a kart stalled in turn two completely changed the complexion of the race. Second place Colby Copeland was able to take a low line underneath the disabled kart while Larson chose to go around the outside, allowing Copeland to race by and lead at the yellow flag. With the green and white flag appearing Larson was not able to mount a serious challenge to Copeland and settled for second at the checkered. Larson also competed in the 500cc Open division main event immediately following the 250cc feature and the chance to get one victory for the day was stymied early as the sprocket hub broke on his mount on lap five.

Sweeps All Star Tour
Thank you Benny Brown for your support!

March 11, 2006~At the banquet Kyle gave a speech for the All Star Tour
First I would like to thank my sponsors: ParkerStore, QRC, Inc., RPM –Indoor Kart Racing, JW Web Design, Corning Ford Mercury –KIA, Broken Bow Records, Hampton Inn & Suites, Del’s Machine Shop, WYNN’s, Earl’s Indy, Care-Free Pools, HOD-Heaven on Dirt, PrintWerx, and LFT Technologies Inc. – Safety Solutions.

I wish the Tour wasn’t coming to the end. I have a lot of good memories: traveling in a group, the slick track in Oregon, in Idaho, Robert karaoking “On the Road Again”, Pete hiding under the tables in the bar, the hotel alarm going off in the early morning, the ice machine taking a beating, a lot happened in Idaho, but it was fun!

There are good memories at the other tracks we competed at like Carson City, Lakeport, Stockton, Cycleland and of course Red Bluff. The best part of running the Tour it gave me experience on the different type of tracks and surface. I feel racing the Tour made me a better driver.

Thank you Bob Carrel for all your hard work and I appreciate everything you do for the outlaw karts and families.

Robert, thank you again for all the support you have given me. I will always remember what you have done for me. Thank you.

Jack Waterman, you’ve been great! I love all the pictures you provide. Thanks to you I get a lot of compliments on my website. Thank you for all you do for me and my family.

Last, I would like to congratulate the other champions and my Corning Ford teammates, Tyler Reddick and Pete Johnston. And thank you Benny Brown and Clarence for all your support.

March 7, 2006 -
Here is a little bit of information about Kyle's buddy,  Justyn Cox's dad, who also races.  He drives the Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster - Cheetah III.  The name of the car, Cheetah III, is derived from past history. During the late 1960s there was a two car top fuel team in Sacramento, California that went by the names of the Cheetah I and Cheetah II. The late Gary Ormsby drove the Cheetah I, and John Cox drove the Cheetah II. In 2002, when Cox decided to build a new top fuel team with his son as the driver, he felt it was fitting to continue the Cheetah legacy.  For more information check out:  http://aafd-inc.com/member-Rodeck-Cox.shtml
